We purchased the property and returned a week later to begin work and to assess the damage! Began work on the roofs to prevent them from leaking, organised an electrician to install a new consumer unit and a builder to reroof the front half of the house and to lime-render the front elevation.
So far, so good - except the earliest the builder could start work was the following March or April. The electrician could do fit a new consumer unit but the wiring in the house was condemned (as we thought) and we would only have a limited supply. And we had booked our flights for Christmas.
Perhaps we still had a little way to go....
