october 2004
During our time at the house in October, we built a step down in the front hallway to mask the elecric cabling (of which there is a lot in a French house) running under the doorway.
We finally finished the floor tiles in the ground floor reception. This area was a non-room when we first started this project, it had never been for habitable use. Now, with some plastering done, lighting, heating, electricity AND a floor, it was starting to look better. The white tiles were used to reflect the light.
During the summer the rear roof was removed and replaced. Two huge velux windows were incorporated to put light in this area for the first time in 250 years. At last, we have a weatherproof house (two years after we bought it!) This area is fantastic - open, light, spacious and grand. The roof is about 25 feet high in some places!
